Protect Your Health with Kidney Screening

Your kidneys play a vital role in keeping your body healthy. They filter waste and excess fluids from the blood, help regulate blood pressure, balance electrolytes, and produce essential hormones. However, kidney disease often develops silently—without symptoms—until it reaches an advanced stage. Hence, regular kidney screening is especially important, particularly for individuals at higher risk.

Kidney screening assesses how well your kidneys are functioning and includes:

  • Urine Analysis (Albumin-to-Creatinine Ratio – ACR): Checks for the presence of protein or blood in the urine, and detects early signs of kidney damage.
  • Blood Analysis (Serum Creatinine & eGFR): Measures how efficiently your kidneys are filtering waste. The estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) helps detect chronic kidney disease.

FAQ

How do I prepare for health screening?

Pre-health screening
Fasting is required for your health screening (non-fasting health screening packages are also available). No food and beverages for at least 8 hours prior to your appointment, and please take plain water only.

For individuals on medication
You may take your medications (including those for blood pressure and blood thinning) before your health screening. For diabetic patients, please delay your routine morning medication until your blood sample is taken. However, for some unique tests, you are advised to take medications at recommended timing. Kindly check with clinic staff if you have any doubts.

For individuals on supplements
You do not need to stop taking health supplements prior to health screening. Most health supplements do not affect blood tests results when taken on the same day.

For female
It is advisable to do the urine and stool test five (5) days after the last day of the menstruation cycle.

For pregnant ladies
Pregnancy causes many changes in a female’s body. Your gynaecologist would routinely perform relevant test at different stages of the pregnancy to check your health status. Should you have specific health concerns during this period, please consult our doctor to find out if a health screening is necessary for you.

For individuals who are nearsighted or farsighted
Bring along your glasses for near and distant Vision Test, it is not recommended to put on contact lenses on the screening date.

On the day of health screening
You should not attend the health screening if you are feeling unwell as this may affect your results. Please consult our doctor.
